QUETTA: Security personnel on Friday foiled an attack on the Quetta-bound Jaffar Express.
A spokesman for the Frontier Corps, Balochistan said that an improvised explosive device (IED) had been planted on the railway track near Aab-e-Gum area in Bolan district to target the Jaffar Express.
“Unidentified terrorists had planted an IED on the railway track near Aab-e-Gum, between Mach and Sibi, to target Jaffar Express coming from Rawalpindi. After receiving information, FC personnel and Railways Police reached the site,” the spokesman said.
He said the remote-controlled IED was detonated by terrorists hidden in the mountains when the bomb disposal squad tried to defuse it.
“However, the Bomb Disposal personnel remained unhurt as they were wearing protective gear,” he said. He said a security operation was underway to arrest the terrorist.
